Liquid Casing® Carried in Mud Effectively Reseals Perforations Without Invasion

Liquid Casing® Fine and Course are ideal products for inducing wellbore stability by reinforcing the formation with minimal invasion.  Additionally, the product line is superior for attacking losses when they occur. When drilling operations occur Liquid Casing® products seal porous holes in the geological formations in a manner that is minimally invasive, reinforcing and strengthening the formation and the filter cake. Without Liquid Casing® products, the filter cake would be compromised by traditional LCM products, creating undesirable properties such as cracking, which in turn results in lost circulation and other undesired consequences like cross lateral flow and stuck pipe.

Under new management, Liquid Casing® products are being improved and quality control measures enhanced.  Liquid Casing® products’ mechanical and chemical properties continue to dominate in both the field and the lab. One particular benefit of using  Liquid Casing® materials during drilling operations is their desired property of being able to seal in an airtight manner without losing flexibility under pressured in the face of abrasive measures. According to data from some of the most experienced petroleum engineers, Liquid Casing® carried in mud can reseal perforations created after losing up to 4 lbs /ppb.

Using Liquid Casing® manufactured products ensures that proper seals are made against the lateral flow that leads to lost circulation. The product line is plastic and flexible in nature, allowing the advanced additives to seal perforations that occur even when the formation experiences changing pressure gradients, both high and low.

Differential sticking is a common phenomenon as well in most rock formations, also a consequence of lost circulation. If left unchecked, differential sticking can result in major losses through reformation of the rock formation and the creation of mechanisms such as liquefaction. When the mud system includes  Liquid Casing® material, it ensures that differential sticking is minimized throughout the wellbore shaft. Cleaning up and maintenance of wellbore shafts is often difficult in the instances where there is differential sticking; however, with the use of Liquid Casing® resins this is minimized, easing the cleaning process of the wellbore.

Regions prone to earthquakes and tremors experience major deformations as a result of the destabilizing effects of vibrations. Using Liquid Casing® products is an efficient and environmentally friendly manner ensures that these stresses do not lead to cracks in the formation, as these advanced additives are plastic and flexible.  This product characteristic enables Liquid Casing® additives to stand firm throughout the lifespan of the wellbore. Most researchers record reduced number of wellbores in formations where Liquid Casing® materials are applied to the wellbore shaft.
